Henri-Auguste Duval

Henri-Auguste Duval (born April 28, 1777 in Alençon , † March 16, 1814 in Paris ) was a French doctor and botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Duval ".

Live and act

Henri-Auguste Duval studied medicine at the University of Paris and wrote his dissertation on pyrosis . He became known through the catalog Plantae succulentae in horto Alenconio , published in 1809 . The succulents growing in Alençon were listed on 18 pages and the plant genera Gasteria , Haworthia and Ligularia were described for the first time .

In 1813 he published a supplement to the work of JD Dupont Double flore parisienne ou description de toutes les espèces qui croissent naturellement aux environs de Paris .

Dedication names

Adrian Hardy Haworth named the genus Duvalia of the plant family of dog poison plants (Apocynaceae) in his honor .

Also, the genus Duvaliandra M.G.Gilbert the plant family of asclepiadoideae (Asclepiadaceae) is named after him.
