Career

The first steps in your career

Born in the French capital, Diomansy Kamara began his professional career at the local club Red Star Paris and switched to the Italian Serie C2 for the Calabrian US Catanzaro during the 1999/2000 season . Graduated from there he joined the northern Italian FC Modena to that just in the second-rate series B had risen. Already in the following season 2001/02 the march through to Serie A succeeded and the young Senegalese attracted attention in the top Italian league with his agile style of play across Europe. After the 2003/04 season - Kamara had achieved a total of six championship goals - FC Modena had to relegate to Serie B again.

Portsmouth FC

In August 2004, the management of the first division club Portsmouth initially planned a loan deal with Kamara, but then decided to sign a full £ 2.25 million, which at the time was the highest transfer fee of the club in its history. The center forward, who was already praised as the “new Thierry Henry ” because of his speed , showed good performances at the beginning of the 2004/05 season before he was thrown back by an almost three-month injury break and a form crisis. After just one year, Portsmouth FC transferred Kamara to West Bromwich Albion under a contractual clause and received £ 1.5m back from Modena FC (the full amount would only have to be paid if Kamara had been employed for two years). Kamara moved to the Bryan Robson- trained league competitor West Bromwich Albion for 1.5 million pounds .

West Bromwich Albion

Kamara came on August 13, 2005 as a substitute for Nwankwo Kanu in the 60th minute of the 0-0 draw away at Manchester City to make his debut for the "Baggies". He scored his first goal for WBA just over a month later on September 20, 2005 in the League Cup against Bradford City (4-1). However, this goal was to be the first of only two in the entire 2005/06 season ; the second goal in the 2-0 win against Manchester City on December 10, 2005 was also his only league goal of the season. In the end, he rose with his club in the second-rate Football League Championship .

In the subsequent 2006/07 second division season, Kamara rehabilitated himself for the previously missed performances, developed into a goalscorer with 23 hits in all competitions and was instrumental in ensuring that his club reached the play-off finals for promotion to the Premier League. In October 2006 he already had the award for the best second division player of the month ("Championship Player-of-the-Month") and in February of the following year the analogue price of the players 'association PFA ("PFA Fans' Player-of-the-Month") won. In addition, the PFA nominated the (second division) team of the year (“PFA Championship team of the year”) and the club was voted the best WBA player of the past season.

Fulham FC

After the WBA missed promotion to the Premier League due to a 1-0 defeat by Derby County , Fulham Kamara signed on July 9, 2007 for the record transfer fee of six million pounds. On August 12, 2007, he came in the second half of the 2-1 defeat at Arsenal as a substitute for David Healy to his first appearance for the "Cottagers". The first goal followed during the 1-0 league cup win at Shrewsbury Town on August 28, 2007. The first goal in the championship he succeeded just four days later in the 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur , when he equalized with an overhead kick last minute scored.

Eskişehirspor

In late June 2011 Kamara announced that it would not renew his expiring contract with Fulham FC. On June 24, 2011, the Turkish club Eskişehirspor announced the commitment of the Senegalese. Kamara signed a three-year contract here. In the first friendly match in preparation, the striker scored both goals in a 2-0 win over the Syrian national soccer team on July 2, 2011. He scored his first competitive goal on matchday two of the Süper Lig , and scored 3-0 in his team's 4-0 win in Sivas. In his first season in Turkey, the Senegalese scored 15 goals in 35 league games. In the summer of 2014, Kamara left Eskişehirspor after three years. When he left, Kamara was the foreign player with the most first division goals for Eskişehirspor with 28 league goals.

After half a year in the Indian Super League with NorthEast United FC , he ended his professional career at the end of 2015.
