Henri Dievenbach
Hendrikus Anthonius Dievenbach (born July 25, 1872 in Haarlem , † January 16, 1946 in Laren ) was a Dutch painter .
Life
Henri Dievenbach became an apprentice at the drawing school for arts and crafts in Haarlem and then attended the arts and crafts school in Amsterdam . From 1892 to 1896 he studied at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (State Academy) in Amsterdam under August Allebé , Dake, Leenhof and Nicolaas van der Waay . Dievenbach lived and worked in Haarlem and Amsterdam until 1896 and in Hilversum between 1899 and 1910 . He then settled in Laren and lived there until his death. In the meantime he also worked in North Brabant or Overijssel .
Dievenbach also taught other artists such as JW Henke, JC Verhoeven and JH Viertelhausen.
Dievenbach was very active in the Laren art scene. He was a member of several artist associations such as St. Lucas and Arti et Amicitiae , both in Amsterdam. In January 1921 he was even a co-founder of the Laren-Blaricum artists' association .

He mainly painted and drew the interiors of farms with figures, but also created still lifes (mostly flowers) and portraits. On August 9, 1939, the Handelsblad wrote: “Still life perfectly in its validity and with beautiful expression.” Dievenbach painted in the tradition of the Laren school . He also left some etchings.
Some of his paintings can be viewed in Laren's parish hall today.
