Henri Louis Poisson

Henri Louis Poisson (born August 24, 1877 in Michery , † May 9, 1963 in Paris ), was a French botanist and ornithologist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Poiss. "

Life

Poisson studied first at the École nationale vétérinaire de Lyon (ENVL) until 1902 and then during his time as an intern in the laboratory for zoology and parasitology of the École nationale vétérinaire d'Alfort (envA) from 1903 to 1905 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Paris.

In 1905 he was appointed to the chair for culture of the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle and in 1912 received his doctorate in natural sciences with a dissertation on the subject of Recherches sur la Flore Méridionale de Madagascar . From 1914 to 1919 he was a veterinarian in the French army. In this function he came to Antsiranana (Diego Suarez) in Madagascar in 1916 , where he met and worked with Raymond Decary . From 1920 to 1924 he was stationed in Toliara (Tuléar). There he put together botanical collections. In 1928 he was chief veterinarian in Madagascar . Later he was Inspector General of the Veterinary Service of the French Overseas Territories.

In 1954 he was retired in Tananarive and returned to Paris.
