Henri Vidal

Henri Vidal (born November 26, 1919 in Royat , according to other sources Clermont-Ferrand , Département Puy-de-Dôme , † December 10, 1959 in Paris ) was a French actor .

Life

Vidal initially worked as an actor on smaller stages and was discovered as a participant in beauty pageants for the cinema. In 1941 he made his debut alongside Edith Piaf and Jean-Louis Barrault in the film Montmartre-sur-Seine . In 1949 he made his final breakthrough alongside Michèle Morgan in the film Fabiola . After filming was over, the couple got married. His first marriage was to actress Michèle Cordoue.

He subsequently had leading roles in films such as The Hunt for Death , Gangsters of Paris , The Parisian Woman or Woman in Purgatory and Do you want to dance with me? with Brigitte Bardot in 1959. He also played alongside Eva Bartok and Curd Jürgens in Orient-Express or with O. W. Fischer and Jean Gabin in Napoléon . In Germany he is best known for the 1957 film Die Mausefalle and his participation in An Angel on Earth with Romy Schneider .

Vidal, who turned to drug use due to depression, died of a heart attack at the age of 40.
