Henri de Sponde
Henri de Sponde , also Henricus Spondanus , (born January 6, 1568 in Mauléon (today in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department ), † May 18, 1643 in Toulouse ) was a French Catholic jurist, historian and from 1626 to 1629 Bishop of Pamiers .
Sponde, a previously Calvinist convert , was best known as the continuer of the Annales ecclesiastici of Cesare Baronio . His older brother was the Graecist, Latinist, alchemist and Renaissance poet Jean de Sponde .
