Von Zaubererbrüdern - Live & Unplugged is the second live album and the first live DVD by the band ASP . These are recordings from the band's second acoustic tour, which was titled Dark Romantic Autumn Evenings - Of Magician Brothers, Black Butterflies and Other Night Figures. Except for the bonus tracks on the CDs, the recordings come from the concert in Bochum's Christ Church .

In contrast to the band's other concerts, the Von-Zaubererbrüdern tour played more and more quieter and more melancholy songs, such as Wolfspuren or Die Ballade von der Awewung . In addition, about a third of the set list comes from the album Zaubererbruder - Der Krabat song cycle , which was released shortly before the tour. In addition, the songs from this album had stronger folk elements than all previous albums, so that an acoustic version of these songs was offered. It is also noticeable that songs like Schwarzer Schmetterling or Sing Child were omitted, although these songs are actually live classics of the band.

The album was released in four different versions: as a 3-CD box, a 2-DVD box, a bundle and a Blu-ray disc. The bundle is limited to 3,000 copies and contains both the 3-CD box and the 2 -DVD box that came together in a slipcase.
Except for the Blu-ray Disc, the work was sold exclusively through the band's own online shop. This is because the recording was financed entirely by the band itself. Therefore the album was not released by Trisol like the other releases of the band, but by the band's own Herz und Verstand Merchandising GmbH . Only the Blu-ray Disc was marketed by Trisol and so came on the free market.

- In addition to the actual band ASP, Almuth Storch has also participated in the band's two previous acoustic tours.
- The film production was taken over by Magna Mana Production , which had previously produced the band's music video Me .
- The CD box bonus tracks were recorded at different concerts than the rest of the album. This is mainly due to the fact that (apart from Little Big Man ) other guest musicians were involved. That's why Mein Herz always recognizes you together with guest singer Lisa Pawelke in the Munich Muffathalle, the bonus track Zaubererbruder with Eric Fish in the Berlin Passionskirche and the U2 Cover New Year's Day together with Ralph Müller, who builds the guitars for the band, in the Capitol recorded in Offenbach. The bonus song Little Big Man comes from the soundcheck in Hamburg.
