Mask-like - sinking into eleven pictures (Foreign Cycle, Part 2) is the eighth studio album by the Frankfurt band ASP . It represents the second part of the Fremder cycle. The album was, after foreign , the band's second album in the top 10 of the album charts .

Music style and content

Musically, ASP remain largely true to the sound of the first part of the cycle. The spectrum ranges from the ballad " Snowfall in Hell " to " The fairy tale of the tomboy-windfang ", which at least in the chorus is firmly anchored in metal . With the opener “ Augenaufschlag ” there is a gloomy introduction in the spirit of “ conjuring ” from the album Aus der Tief . With “ optimism ” or “ Wanderer ” two electro rockers.

Receptions

“Maskenhaft” is an earthy, lively opus full of emotions and depth, so artistic and harmonious. The gloomy lyrics merge perfectly with the driving, soulful numbers, which despite the complex overall concept all turn out to be anthemic jewels. With "mask-like", ASP makes itself immortal. "

- Markus Wosgien : BLAST!

“But almost unnoticed, the individual stories become a narrative, the songs merge in a steady flow to form a great work. Eleven pieces, painted with words and brushes ... and the listener sinking into the dark beauty of sounds, stories and images. "

- Axel Schön : Orkus
