Henriette Marie Charlotte Antoinette of Belgium (born November 30, 1870 in Brussels , Belgium , † March 29, 1948 in Sierre , Switzerland ) was a princess of Belgium.

Life

Henriette Marie was a daughter of Prince Philippe of Belgium , Count of Flanders (1837–1905) from his marriage to Maria Luise (1845–1912), daughter of Prince Karl Anton von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen . Her younger brother Albert became King of the Belgians in 1909. Henriette developed a particularly close relationship with her older brother Baudouin . When Henriette became seriously ill in 1891, he woke up at her sick bed, became infected and only died at the age of 21.

She married Emmanuel d'Orléans (1872–1931) in Brussels on February 12, 1896 . Her dowry was several million.

Henriette made a particular contribution in the First World War in the care of war victims and the care of wounded soldiers. For this purpose she converted her villa in Cannes into a hospital.

She died on March 29, 1948 at the age of 77 and was buried in the Chapelle Royale de Saint Louis in Dreux .

Henriette of Belgium was a member of the Papal Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .
