Henriette Schmidt-Bonn

Henriette Schmidt-Bonn (born December 5, 1873 in Bonn , † April 27, 1946 in Willingshausen ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Henriette Schmidt-Bonn attended the Becker-Leber painting school and was taught by Heinrich Otto in Düsseldorf from 1905 . Through him she also got to know the Willingshausen painters' colony , which she first visited in 1911 and has since visited regularly. Schmidt-Bonn was friends with Wilhelm Thielmann . In 1942, after her apartment in Düsseldorf was destroyed by bombing , she moved to Willingshausen entirely.

Her work includes “varied landscape portraits with rural-village architecture, while the main and later works are devoted to depicting Willingshausen, the surrounding villages and small towns, the Hessian landscape and individual trees or entire groups. Henriette Schmidt-Bonn used a realistic stylistic language and formulated her observations in the media of hand drawing, watercolor and etching - less in oil, rarely in woodcut ”.
