Henrik Saxgren
Henrik Saxgren (born April 1, 1953 in Randers , Jutland in Denmark ) is a photographer and publisher .
life and work
After school, he trained as a commercial photographer before turning to photojournalism. The focus here is on Cuba and Ecuador as well as crisis areas such as Haiti , Palestine and Rwanda . From 1979 to 1995 he was a founding member of the 2Maj photo agency in Copenhagen and from 1985 to 1991 he was also the photo editor of the critical Danish monthly Ma (o) nadsbladet Press . Until the publication of his book Solomon's House in 2000, Saxgren lived in Nicaragua . He then spent two years in Ecuador and Gaza in Palestine.
His exhibition of photographs Landscapes of War has been shown in Toronto , Esbjerg in Jutland, Glückstadt and Copenhagen , among others . In 2006 he completed the photo book War & Love - Immigration into the Nordic Countries . This portrays and describes the situation of around 80 immigrants and immigrant families in Denmark and Sweden . An exhibition of the same title has so far been shown in Gothenburg , Helsinki , Copenhagen, Aarhus , Stockholm , Oslo and Iceland . In 2009 Saxgren exhibited a photo series with the title: Unintended Sculpture (German: unintended sculptures) in the National Fotografi Museum in Copenhagen and in the Asbaek Gallery in Copenhagen. In Germany, an illustrated book was published in German and English.
