Henry Darío Mejía Reyes (born March 13, 1991 in Bambú , Colón Department , † May 21, 2014 in La Ceiba , Atlántida Department ) was a Honduran football player.

Life

Mejía was born in 1991 in the village of Bambú , a suburb of Balfate in the Department of Colón , and grew up in the neighboring Río Esteban .

Football career

Mejía started his active football career in adolescence with CD Río Esteban on the side of the later Honduran national player Romell Quioto . In early 2009 he left Río Esteban and switched to Juveníl A of the CD Victoria . There Mejía celebrated his professional debut on July 29, 2012 against CD Motagua as part of the Torneo Apertura of the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras . After his debut in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras, he played in eleven other games of the LNP Honduras before suffering a stroke in December 2012 in the game against CD Olimpia . After his stroke and an associated acute kidney failure , he ended his active career. During the time of his illness, his association CD Victoria donated part of the entrance fee for the dialysis of Mejía.

About a year after his stroke, Mejia died of cardiac arrest on May 21, 2014 in La Ceiba in the Atlántida department . Two days later, the 23-year-old soccer player was buried in Balfate .
