Henry Expert

Isidore Norbert Henry Expert (born May 12, 1863 in Bordeaux , † August 18, 1952 in Tourrettes-sur-Loup ) was a French musicologist .

Life

Expert studied at the École Niedermeyer de Paris from 1881 and attended the classes of Cesar Franck , Gustave Lefèvre and Eugène Gigout , and later also those of Gabriel Fauré . He emerged with the publication of two important compilations on the music of the Renaissance : Les Maîtres Musiciens de la Renaissance Française and Monuments de la musique francaise au temps de la Renaissance .

From 1909 to 1933 Expert was librarian at the Paris Conservatory .
