Henry Schüler (born October 6, 1959 ) is a former German soccer player . The offensive player played 33 league games at SC Freiburg from 1979 to 1982 in the 2nd Bundesliga , scoring five goals.

Athletic career

In his youth, Schüler played at SV Eintracht Freiburg before moving to SC Freiburg within the city . For the new club he played alongside his brother Wolfgang Schüler in 1979 in the 2nd Bundesliga South . He reached with the club in the first two years with the sixth or seventh place in the table places in the upper third of the table, so that the Breisgauer qualified in the summer of 1981 for the single-track 2nd Bundesliga. After another year he turned his back on the club, as he barely got above the rank of supplementary player with 33 stakes in three years.

In the summer of 1982, Schüler joined the local rivals Freiburg FC , who had been relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . Under coach Hans Linsenmaier he was part of the regular formation for a long time, with seven goals he contributed to sixth place in the table. After a coach change to Lutz Hangartner at the beginning of the 1983/84 season , success returned to the Möslestadion when the club won the league title. Schüler played a key role in this, with nine goals he was tied with Dieter Derig's top scorer within the club. In the subsequent round of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, however, only one victory succeeded, so that the FFC was third behind the second division promoters FC Homburg and VfR Bürstadt - here, Schüler was completely without scoring. After a disappointing season, at the end of which students had scored seven goals this season, but the club ended up in the middle of the table, Uli Bruder took over the coaching post in 1985 . Driven by Ralf Todzi , the most successful FFC goal scorer of the season with 14 goals, the Breisgauer played for the championship title again, but ultimately had to admit defeat to SSV Ulm in 1846 and qualified as runner-up for the German amateur championship in 1986 . There, students and the team retired after a 2-1 defeat and a 2-2 draw against Wormatia Worms in the first round. In the 1986/87 season he was on the ball in all 34 games, behind Holger Janz (14 goals), he placed second on the scorers list with ten goals this season. Once again, the club played in the top group for a long time, with four points behind SV Sandhausen only reaching fourth place in the table.

After five years with the FFC, in 1987 he moved to SSV Reutlingen in the league . Under coach Lorenz-Günther Köstner he ran in 31 games for the team from the stadium at the Kreuzeiche .
