Ralf Todzi
Ralf Todzi (born June 19, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player . For Borussia Neunkirchen and SSV Ulm 1846 , the offensive player played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1980s .
Athletic career
Todzi began playing football at VfL Munderkingen , and in 1977 he came to 1. Göppinger SV through FV Biberach . With the club he qualified in 1978 for the newly founded Oberliga Baden-Württemberg , in whose first season 1978/79 he shone with twelve goals this season. Together with Robert Piller and player-coach Willi Hoffmann , he formed the powerful offensive that led the club to the runner-up championship behind League Crosus SSV Ulm in 1846. However, he returned in the summer of 1979 to league competitor FV Biberach, with whom he held the class tied with VfR Heilbronn and relegated SV Kuppenheim .
In the summer of 1980 Todzi followed an offer from professional football and joined the former Bundesliga club Borussia Neunkirchen, who had been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga as champions of the Oberliga Südwest . With eight goals in 36 games, he was behind the nine-time successful Bernhard Roth, the second best club-internal scorer in the course of the second division season 1980/81 . Due to the introduction of the single-track 2nd Bundesliga, relegation was linked to the results of the last few years; here the club had almost no chance anyway and as penultimate in the table, the team was relegated straight away. Todzi returned to Baden-Württemberg amateur football and ran for VfR Mannheim in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg. With 13 goals in 24 championship games, he ended up among the top ten goalscorers of the league season 1981/82 , but with 13 wins, the strongest team in the series at home had to be content with fourth place in the table. In the following season he ran in all 36 games of the season, with 16 goals this season, he underlined his goal threat again.
In the summer of 1984 Todzi moved on to the Offenburg FV within the Oberliga . As second in the table behind Freiburg FC , he missed the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team trained by Alfred Metzler , but qualified for the German amateur championship in 1984 . There she reached the final against SC Eintracht Hamm , in which Todzi was the match winner as a three-time goalscorer in a 4-1 success. At the ceremony that followed, he was critically injured and had to undergo emergency surgery. In the following season, the club lost in the championship race in the last third of the season the connection to the top of the table occupied by SV Sandhausen and VfR Mannheim, so that Bernd Schmider replaced Metzler as player-coach and Todzi with nine goals of the season as the second-best club-internal scorer again missed promotion to the second division.
Again Todzi was active as a wanderer and changed clubs after two seasons, this time he joined the league rivals Freiburg FC in the summer of 1985 - together with his previous Offenburg teammate Reinhard Binder . There Uli Bruder , who also played as a sweeper at Offenburg FV until the summer , was signed as the new coach. In the 1985/86 season , Freiburg fought a duel with the second division relegated SSV Ulm 1846 for the championship, in which - despite Todzi's 14 goals this season and only three away defeats throughout the season - the "sparrows" prevailed. Todzi thus took part again in the German amateur championship, but in the 1986 edition it was over in the first round against Wormatia Worms . Todzi scored a goal in the second leg, after the 1: 2 defeat in the first leg and a 0-2 deficit in the second leg in the Möslestadion , it was only enough there to a 2-2 draw.
Nevertheless, Todzi returned to the 2nd Bundesliga, he joined last year's rivals for promotion to the second division from Ulm. Mainly as a substitute he was with eight goals this season next to Dieter Kohnle and Neven Rudić most dangerous player of the Swabian club, who finished the season in 13th place in the table. Nevertheless, he left the club straight away and went to the Swiss second division club FC Baden , where two compatriots were already under contract with Richard Rindle and Martin Wiesner .
Later Todzi worked as a coach in Swiss amateur football and looked after, among others, FC Dübendorf and FC Fehraltorf .
