Henry Turner Eddy
Henry Turner Eddy (born June 9, 1844 in Stoughton (Massachusetts) , † December 11, 1921 in Minneapolis ) was an American civil engineer.
Eddy studied mathematics at Yale University and from 1867 engineering at the local Sheffield Scientific School. From 1868 he taught mathematics and Latin at the University of East Tennessee and from 1869 assistant professor of mathematics and civil engineering at Cornell University and received his doctorate there in 1872. 1874 to 1890 he was professor of mathematics, astronomy and civil engineering at the University of Cincinnati , their He was dean from 1874 to 1877 and 1884 to 1889 and of which he was president in 1890. In 1878/79 he was at the University of Berlin and the Sorbonne for a scientific exchange. From 1891 to 1894 he was President of the Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute . 1894 to 1912 he was a professor of mechanics and engineering at the University of Minnesota . In 1906 he became dean of the graduate school there and in 1912 he retired.
In the 1870s he published books on graphic statics, including a method for calculating domes. In 1913/14 he published on the theory of the reinforced concrete slab. In reinforced concrete, he worked with the consulting civil engineer Claude Allen Porter Turner (1869–1955).

In 1893 he gave a lecture on Modern Graphical Developments at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
