Henry Victor (born October 2, 1892 in London , Great Britain, † March 15, 1945 in Hollywood , California) was a British-American actor.

Life

Henry Victor was born in London, but grew up in Germany, which is why he had a German accent in his American films. While Victor sometimes played leading roles in the silent film era, after the introduction of talkies in the late 1920s, he often had to make do with small to medium-sized supporting roles. This was not least due to his German accent. He had his most famous role as the muscular Hercules in Tod Browning's horror film Freaks from 1932. He also played in the 1941 film Lord of the Zombies . In the last years of his life - during the Second World War - Victor was often hired for Nazi rogue roles, for example he took on the role of adjutant Schultz in the classic film Sein oder nicht sein (1942) by Ernst Lubitsch .

Henry Victor died of a brain tumor in Hollywood on March 15, 1945 at the age of 52 .
