Herbert Barth (music writer)
Herbert Barth (born January 18, 1910 in Erfurt ; † 1998 ) was a German music writer.
Live and act
Barth came to Bayreuth after the end of the Second World War . There he organized the Bayreuth Weeks for New Music in 1947 and a little later founded the Institute for New Music, under whose roof the major workshops “New Music in Class” and “Youth and New Music” took place between 1948.
From 1952 to 1976 he was head of the press department at the Bayreuth Festival . He was director of the international youth festival meeting and 1st chairman of the youth cultural center.
Together with his wife Hanna Barth lived at Colmdorf Castle .
