Herbert Beer

Herbert Beer (born May 31, 1914 in Purley / England ; † June 24, 1971 in Lütjenburg ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE , GDP , CDU ).

Life and work

Beer, who was of Protestant faith, was born in England but grew up in the eastern German regions. After the Second World War he came to Schleswig-Holstein as a displaced person .

Beer was married and had two children. His daughter Angelika Beer later sat for the Greens in the German Bundestag and in the European Parliament as well as for the Pirate Party in the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament.

Political party

Beer initially belonged to the GB / BHE. 1956 to 1960 he was deputy state chairman and then until 1961 state chairman in Schleswig-Holstein. After the merger with the DP , he became a member and Schleswig-Holstein state chairman of the GDP. In 1964 he took part with Adolf von Thadden and Fritz Thielen in the preparations for founding the NPD , but did not join it himself. Instead, he tried to work with the National Politics Working Group, which he led, to create a gathering movement of smaller right-wing groups around the GDP. When this project failed, Beer also resigned as GDP state chairman in December 1968. In 1969 he joined the CDU.

MP

Beer was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein from 1954 to 1958 and from the state elections in 1971 until his death . In 1971 he represented the constituency of Plön- Nord in parliament. From 1954 to 1958 he was deputy chairman of the transport committee of the state parliament. From May 5, 1958 until the end of the electoral term he was parliamentary group chairman of the GB / BHE parliamentary group.
