Herbert Behre

Herbert Behre (born May 31, 1927 in Dalhausen ; † April 8, 1994 in Paderborn ) was a German educator.

After attending the grammar school Marianum in Warburg and his Abitur in autumn 1947, Behre studied from November 20, 1947 at the Catholic Pedagogical Academy in Paderborn , among others with the folklorist Heinrich Schauerte and the geographer Ludwig Maasjoost. Subsequently, after the first teacher examination in early October 1949, he became a teacher at the elementary schools in Würgassen (1949–1953) and Stahle (1953–1955). At the same time he studied German and geography at the Pedagogical Academy in Bielefeld for the secondary school teacher examination. On April 1, 1955, he was named teacher at the Catholic elementary school in Wewer and in autumn 1958 at the oldest secondary school in the city of Paderborn, founded in 1941 as a secondary school, 1951 Städtische Von-Fürstenberg-Realschule Paderborn, which he directed from 1963 to 1991. Behre also initiated the establishment of the secondary school for late resettlers with secondary school support classes (1967) and the Paderborn evening secondary school (1973) and was head of the city youth association of the city of Paderborn (1960).

Herbert Behre was the nephew of the painter Gustav Behre . He was friends with his colleague Herbert Dohmann .
