Heinrich Schauerte (born November 17, 1882 in Schmallenberg - Nordenau ; † August 6, 1975 in Schmallenberg- Fredeburg ) was professor of religious folklore.

Life

Heinrich Schauerte was born the son of a farmer in Nordenau. After attending the rectorate school in Fredeburg and a grammar school in Paderborn, he obtained his school-leaving certificate in 1903. This was followed by philological and theological studies in Paderborn , Würzburg and Münster . Since 1904, Schauerte was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Markomannia Würzburg . On March 22, 1907, Heinrich Schauerte was ordained a priest in Paderborn. He passed his state examination for religion and Hebrew a year later in Münster. In 1917 he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. at the theological faculty of the University of Münster .

From 1923 to 1924 he was first chairman of the Sauerland Heimatbund . He then took over the chairmanship of the Folklore Committee of the Westphalian Heimatbund from 1924 to 1928 . In the period from 1926 to 1928, but also in 1942, he was a teacher at the Marianum grammar school in Warburg , and he also worked at secondary schools in Olpe, Dortmund and Rietberg (1921 to 1926). He also passed the state examination in German Folklore.

In 1930 he moved to the Philosophical-Theological Academy ( Academia Theodoriana ) in Paderborn . He stayed there until his retirement in 1966. At the same time, from 1946 to 1957, he also received teaching assignments from the University of Münster and the University of Education in Paderborn.

Heinrich Schauerte is buried in the cemetery in Nordenau.
