Herbert Beuerle

Herbert Beuerle (* 28. April 1911 in Dusseldorf , † 13. February 1994 in Gelnhausen ) was a German church music - composer and hymns - poet .

Life

He studied church music in Berlin with Gerhard Schwarz , Gottfried Grote , Hugo Distler and Ernst Pepping and then worked there as a cantor. After being a Soviet prisoner of war from 1945 to 1949 he was cantor in Dassel , from 1952 to retirement cantor and music editor in Burckhardthaus Gelnhausen, and from 1949 Singwart in the Christian Singers Association . He wrote many songs and canons of the genre New Spiritual Song and was a member of the ecumenical lyricists and composers group of the Werkgemeinschaft Musik e. V. and the AG Music in the Ev. Youth e. V., today the lyricists and composers group TAKT .

Herbert Beuerle's melodies can be found in the Protestant hymn book and in the Catholic praise of God , but also in free church worship books, for example in the hymn book of the Evangelical Methodist Church from 2002.

His son was the musician Hans Michael Beuerle .
