Herbert Ehler

Herbert Ehler (born on August 10, 1931 ; died on October 22, 2017 in Potsdam ) was a German film producer . Among the most important works by Ehler are films that he made from 1968 in collaboration with the German film director Konrad Wolf . These include I was nineteen (1968), Goya - or the bad path of knowledge (1971), The naked man on the sports field (1974), Mama, I'm alive (1977) and Solo Sunny (1980).

Life

From 1958 to 1962 Ehler studied film production at the Film School in Potsdam-Babelsberg ( now : Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf ). He spent the academic year 1960/1961 at the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography (WGIK) in Moscow .

In addition to his job as a film producer, he had also been a professor at his old university since 1965 , where he trained subsequent generations in film production. His students included u. a. the German film director Peter Vogel .

Ehler was married to the German assistant director Doris Borkmann , who herself took part in many DEFA productions.

Herbert Ehler died in Potsdam in 2017 .
