Herbert Gosebruch
Herbert Gosebruch (* 1912 in Essen ; † January 10, 1945 near Elbing ) was a German opera singer ( baritone ).
Life
Gosebruch began as a choir singer at the Krefeld City Theater . After training as a soloist, he sang at the Volksoper Berlin from 1939 and at the Essen Opera House from 1942 . In 1943/44 he took on the role of Hermann Ortel in Richard Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival . In this role he can be heard on several recordings, including A. in the Bayreuth complete recording of the opera under Wilhelm Furtwängler (1943)
Herbert Gosebruch was a son of the art historian Ernst Gosebruch and an older brother of the art historian Martin Gosebruch . He was married to the soprano Emmy Stoll . In autumn 1944 he was drafted into the army and fell in East Prussia in early 1945.
