Jim Crutcher
Ernest James "Jim" Crutcher (born June 5, 1934 - May 17, 2018 ) was an American jazz musician ( double bass ).
Live and act
Crutcher attended Carrollton High School in Los Angeles until 1953 and studied at San José State University ; then he began to work as a professional musician. In the course of his career he accompanied a. a. jazz singers Billie Holiday and Anita O'Day ; He also played with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, the New Glenn Miller Orchestra ( Ghost Band ), Les Brown and the Onzy Mathews Jazz Orchestra. The first recordings were made in 1962 with Lou Rawls ( Black and Blue , Capitol). He was also employed as a studio musician in Redondo Beach. As a musician, he also appeared in an Elvis Presley film; he also worked as a photographer. In the field of jazz he was involved in 26 recording sessions between 1962 and 1993. a. also with The Modern Jazz Quintet, Jay Migliori , Della Reese , Priscilla Paris, Beatrice Kay / Johnny Guarnieri Quartet, Groove Holmes , Ray Charles and most recently 1990–93 with the trio of pianist Claude Williamson , on whose albums Standards 2, Memory of West Coast and Collaboration 1993 he can be heard.
