Herbert Graf (politician)

Herbert Graf (born June 9, 1947 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and owner of an engineering office. Graf was a member of the National Council from 1999 to 2002 .

education and profession

Graf attended primary school in Vienna between 1953 and 1957 and then graduated from a federal high school until 1961 . In 1961 he moved to the Higher Technical College for Mechanical Engineering and graduated there in 1966. Between 1967 and 1970 he studied business administration at the Johannes Kepler University Linz , where he had previously done his military service as a one-year volunteer between 1966 and 1967 .

From 1968 to 1970 Graf worked as an officer and test engineer for jet aircraft in the Austrian Armed Forces , after which he worked from 1970 to 1972 as a technical employee. Between 1972 and 1976 he was managing director of a German engineering office and then worked from 1976 to 1980 as technical director for the planning of power generation and distribution systems in Tehran . After returning to Austria, Graf went into business for himself as the owner of a technical office, where he has been running an engineering office for energy and environmental technology in Carinthia since 1980 that deals with the planning of renewable energies and biomass systems.

Politics and functions

Graf worked as a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Carinthia from 1995 and in the same year became head of the specialist group for engineering offices as well as deputy head of the trade association in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. From 1999 he was also a member of the commission on matters relating to environmental promotion in Germany and environmental promotion abroad, as well as a member of the environmental council. He represented the Freedom Party between October 29, 1999 and December 19, 2002 in the National Council.
