Herbert Hammans

Herbert Hammans (born April 3, 1932 in Düren ) is a German clergyman and emeritus Aachen cathedral provost .

Hammans studied theology and philosophy and was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD . On July 25, 1959, he was ordained a priest in Aachen . He was then chaplain in parishes in Viersen and Mönchengladbach and from 1967 to 1972 he took on the duties of deputy head of the Collegium Leoninum . From 1972 to April 2007 he worked in the Vicar General of the Diocese of Aachen mainly in the field of training and further education, since 1995 as deputy vicar general . Since 1992 he has been the resident cathedral capitular at Aachen Cathedral . From April 5, 2004 to December 31, 2007 he was the successor of Hans Müllejans ' Dompropst in Aachen.

Hammans is an honorary member of the Catholic German Student Union (KDSt.V.) Bergland (Freiberg) Aachen.
