Herbert Hochreiter , also Hans Hochreiter , (born December 21, 1911 in Vienna , † September 4, 1979 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian architect and film architect .

Life

Born in Vienna, he studied architecture at the Technical University and the Academy in his hometown and then worked as a qualified architect.

Occasionally, from 1936 onwards, he was brought in to work as a production designer. Between 1939 and 1945, Hochreiter designed almost exclusively for the cinema, especially for Bavaria Film in Munich , and thus escaped being called up. His most important and at the same time most elaborate productions were the two GW Pabst productions Komödianten and Paracelsus , created during the Second World War .

After the war, Herbert Hochreiter returned to the resurrected Austria and finally settled in Salzburg, where he continued to work as a freelance architect. He only worked once for the film, in 1955.
