Herbert Jenter (born February 26, 1930 ; † March 18, 2012 in Leipzig ) was a German volleyball coach.
Career
Herbert Jenter was the most successful German volleyball coach. He was the GDR association trainer from 1960 to 1974 and from 1979 to 1980 . With the GDR men's national team , he was world cup winner in 1969 and world champion in 1970 . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , he won the silver medal.
Herbert Jenter was also successful as a club coach. With the men of SC Leipzig he won the European Cup in 1964 and was GDR champion fourteen times in a row from 1963 to 1976 . In 1970 he was awarded the Order Banner of Labor and in 1972 the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
