1969 Men's Volleyball World Cup

The 1969 Volleyball World Cup was the second edition of the competition. It took place between September 13 and 20 in the GDR . The host GDR won the title.

•  German Democratic Republic as host
•  USSR , Czechoslovakia , Poland and Romania as winner, runner-up, third and fourth place at the European Championship in 1967   
•  Japan as silver medalist at the 1968 Olympic Games
•  Cuba as the winner of the NORCECA championship in 1969
•  Brazil as the winner of the South American Championship in 1969
•  Tunisia as the winner of the African Championship in 1967
•  Bulgaria and Germany at the invitation of the FIVB

The preliminary round was held in three groups. Two of these three groups contained four teams and the third only had three teams. The two best teams in each group qualified for the final round, in which they met in the "everyone against everyone" system.
