Herbert Ninaus (born March 31, 1937 in Voitsberg ; † April 24, 2015 in Sydney ) was an Austrian and later Australian national soccer player and coach.

Herbert Ninaus began his career at ASK Voitsberg, from which he moved to the first division club Grazer AK . The winger made his first appearance in the A-League in the 1954/55 season and soon became a regular. After a strong 1957/58 season , in which Herbert Ninaus scored 25 goals in 24 games, he strongly recommended himself to participate in the 1958 World Cup . Although he was allowed to accompany the team, he was never used in Sweden. However, he was allowed to celebrate his international debut against Yugoslavia in the Austrian national team on October 5, 1958 , and scored a goal.

During the winter break of 1958/59 Herbert Ninaus decided to emigrate to Australia, where he first played for Sydney FC Prague . with which he won the 1959 New South Wales Championship. The fact that after a FK Austria tour to Australia in 1955 several Austrian national league players such as Ninaus, Karl Jost, Peter Hrncir and Leo Baumgartner moved to Australia without any transfer fees, at one time resulted in the country being expelled from FIFA.

In 1965 he won the Australian Cup with Hakoah Eastern Suburbs from Sydney . Now an Australian citizen, Ninaus came in 1964 to two representative games in the Australian national team , in which he scored three goals, and also played several times for the selection of New South Wales. After finishing his active career, he still worked as a coach, including at Canterbury-Marrickville Olympic Soccer Club .

His brother Erwin Ninaus , like Herbert, played for Voitsberg, GAK and Prague in Sydney, from where he returned to Austria after two years.
