Herbert Schwinning

Herbert Schwinning (born January 17, 1940 in Oberhausen ; † April 5, 1996 ) was a German football player .

Career

Herbert Schwinning learned to play soccer in Lower Rhine amateur soccer at TuS Buschhausen and, at the age of 19, switched to the top amateur league for the Sterkrade 06/07 game association . Due to his performance, the contract players' clubs also became aware of the accomplished midfielder and so he signed a contract for the Oberliga West with Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 in 1962 . In the last year of the football Oberliga West, 1962/63 , he played a total of 25 league games and scored six goals. Herbert Schwinning made his first league debut on August 18, 1962 in a 1-0 away win at SC Viktoria Köln . He scored his first goal on matchday 7 in a 2-1 away win at FC Schalke 04 . With players like Rolf Schafstall , Werner Rinass and Horst Podlasly , Hamborn finished 12th in the end.

With the introduction of the new Bundesliga from the 1963/64 season, Hamborn was incorporated into the Regionalliga West . Herbert Schwinning played 34 games and scored 12 goals in the first Regional League season. With his teammates Heinz Pliska , Karl-Heinz Wirth and Franz-Josef Sarna , he came 14th in the table with Hamborn. By 1968 he completed a total of 153 regional league games and then moved back to the Lower Rhine Association for Sterkrade 06/07 . In 1970 Herbert Schwinning became Niederrhein Champion with Sterkrade and only just missed the leap into the Regionalliga West in the promotion round. In the 1970/71 season he played for a year with the amateur league club 1. FC Bocholt before returning to Sterkrade 06/07.

He was a selection player for the Lower Rhine and Bundeswehr.
