Karl-Heinz Wirth (born January 20, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player .

career

Oberliga and Regionalliga West, 1962 to 1965

"Kalla" Wirth started his career in the youth department of Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 . His special talent for defensive play earned him ten appearances in the DFB national youth team in 1961 and 1962. He participated in the UEFA tournaments in Portugal in 1961 and in Romania in 1962. In Portugal, he and Bernd Patzke formed the defenders of the German team that took third place. In 1962 Wirth moved from the A-youth straight to the top division team of the Hamborner "Löwen". In the last year of the West Football League , 1962/63 , he and teammate Rolf Schafstall played all 30 league games as a defender. He scored one goal and Hamborn finished 12th. "Kalla" Wirth made his league debut on August 18, 1962 in the 1-0 away win at SC Viktoria Köln , where he faced Willibert Kremer and Jürgen Schult on the left wing of Viktoria.

With the introduction of the new Bundesliga from the 1963/64 season, Hamborn played its association games in the Regionalliga West from 1963 to 1965 . In the two rounds, Wirth played 72 games and scored nine goals. With his teammates Klaus Kunkel , Rainer Plich , Heinz Pliska , Erich Schiller , Herbert Schwinning and Franz-Josef Sarna , he came in 14th with Hamborn. In the summer of 1965 he moved to the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt .

Eintracht Frankfurt, 1965 to 1973

He played his first Bundesliga game under coach Elek Schwartz on September 4, 1965 against Hannover 96 . In total, he played 138 times for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga in the eight years. On the last day of the 1972/73 season he said goodbye with his use at the home game against MSV Duisburg from Frankfurt when he was substituted on for the injured Jürgen Grabowski by coach Erich Ribbeck in the 8th minute . There were also eleven appearances in the DFB Cup and 13 games in the UEFA Cup , including the 1967 semi-final against Dinamo Zagreb .

Amateur football

For the 1973/74 round Wirth joined the German amateur champion of 1973, SpVgg 05 Bad Homburg in the Hesse amateur league. At FC Paulus Gravenbruch he let his career come to an end from the 1977/78 season.
