Herbert Todt

Herbert Todt (born April 10, 1911 in Sprockhövel , † 2003 in Bad Vilbel ) was a German Unitarian pastor and secretary of the German Antarctic Expedition 1938/39 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1931, Todt studied German , geography and philosophy at the University of Frankfurt am Main and received his doctorate in 1938 under Franz Schultz with the thesis The German encounter with Africa as reflected in German post-war literature .

On October 20, 1938, Todt was hired to head the office of the German Antarctic Expedition in Hamburg . He supported Alfred Ritscher primarily with the procurement of the expedition equipment and, after the return of the expedition, with the elaboration of the results until he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in August 1939.

After the Second World War , Todt became pastor of the Unitarian parish in Bad Vilbel , a post he held until his retirement. Todt was married and had a son.
