Herbert W. Koehler

Herbert W. Köhler , (born December 17, 1919 in Peiskretscham , Upper Silesia; † March 11, 2001 in Duisburg ) was a German CDU politician . He lived in Duisburg.

Köhler studied law and political science .

He was a member of the German Bundestag from the 7th to the 10th electoral term (1972 to 1987). From July 17, 1979 to January 16, 1981 he was also a member of the first European Parliament .

For 25 years he was the managing director of the former Iron and Steel Industry Association and for twelve years a member of the advisory committee of the Coal and Steel Community .

From 1951 until his death Köhler was married to Ingeborg Köhler-Osbahr (1919–2002). In 1986 they founded the Köhler-Osbahr Foundation to promote art and science .
