Heribert Meier

Heribert Meier (born March 14, 1940 in Clarholz ; † November 9, 2001 in Hanover ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Meier attended primary school in Clarholz and then trained as a pastry chef from 1954 to 1957. In 1962 he passed the master's examination in the confectionery trade. From 1964 to 1966 Meier was in the Bundeswehr. After his return, he worked as a self-employed operator of a pastry shop since 1967.

Meier was a member of the Junge Union and since 1969 a member of the CDU. He was chairman of the CDU in Clausthal-Zellerfeld and deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Goslar. In addition, he was state guild master of the state association of confectioners in Lower Saxony and a member of the board of the German Confectioners' Association. Since 1972 he has been involved as councilor of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Four years later he was elected first deputy mayor and CDU parliamentary group leader. He had been represented in the district council of the Goslar district since 1976 , where he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. On December 11, 1990, he moved to the Lower Saxony state parliament in the twelfth electoral period , to which he was a member until his death in 2001.
