Heribert Wilhelm Becker

Heribert Wilhelm Becker (born June 18, 1937 in Dortmund ) is a German manager.

Life

Heribert Becker studied economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and became a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Hohenstaufen Freiburg im Breisgau in the CV .

Heribert Becker was chairman of the Lehnkering group of companies for many years .

From 1977 to 1992 he was Deputy Chairman of the Employers' Association of German Inland Shipping . From 1989 to 1997 he was Vice President, from 1997 to 2001 President of the Lower Rhine Chamber of Commerce and Industry , from 2001 its Honorary President. He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of the European Transport Academy (euva) and its chairman since 1997. Since 2000 he has been chairman of the executive committee of the customer council of Duisburger Hafen AG . In addition, he was heavily involved in the revitalization of the historic route of the Iron Rhine , the planned rail link between the Duisburg-Ruhrorter ports and the port of Antwerp .

In 1986 Heribert Becker was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium , based in Cologne; the office ended in 2007.

In 2004 he received the Cross of Merit, First Class, of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his numerous voluntary work .
