Hermann Aldinger (born February 1, 1902 in Fellbach ; † December 20, 1993 ) was a German geologist and paleontologist. He was a professor of geology at the University of Stuttgart .

Life

Aldinger received his doctorate in Tübingen in 1928 (contributions to the stratigraphy and educational history of the trochitic limestone in northern Württemberg and Baden), was a research assistant there and was at the Natural History Museum in Stockholm from 1933 to 1935 and in 1933 participant in Lauge Koch's Danish Greenland expedition . From 1936 he was with the Württemberg geological survey and in 1951 he succeeded Manfred Bräuhäuser at the chair for geology and palaeontology in Stuttgart.

He dealt with regional geology (regional mapping Württemberg, Swabian Jura) and as a paleontologist in Stockholm with fossil fish from the Permian of Greenland.

He is also known as the author of numerous angling books.

In 1984 he became an honorary member of the Society for Natural History in Württemberg and in 1992 an honorary member of the Upper Rhine Geological Association .
