Hermann Beck

Hermann Beck (born January 30, 1955 ) is a German modern historian who works in the USA. He is Professor of Modern European History at the University of Miami .

Life and activity

Beck studied German and history at the Universities of Mannheim , Freiburg and Berlin , at the Sorbonne and the London School of Economics . 1989 received her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles . Since 1990 he has taught at the University of Miami.

His main research interests are the European and especially the German history of the 19th and 20th centuries with special consideration of socio-historical, intellectual-historical and mentality-historical aspects.

Beck was a research fellow of the Historical Commission in Berlin , a Fulbright fellow and 1997/98 member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
