Hermann Brosig (born April 3, 1906 in Schroppengrund , Austrian Silesia , † May 5, 1994 in Oberstaufen ) was a German spa doctor and founder of the Schroth cure in Oberstaufen.

Life

Brosig attended high school in Opava , then studied medicine at the German University in Prague and received his doctorate in 1932. He then worked at the municipal hospital in Jägerndorf .

In 1936 he settled in Niederlindewiese as a Schroth spa doctor. During the Second World War he served as a regimental doctor on the Channel Islands and at the end of the war he became a British prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1947.

In 1948 he found his family again in Oberstaufen. After the war he was the only trained Schroth spa doctor still alive. The then head of the traffic office and the mayor were able to convince him to practice in Oberstaufen. After 105 Schroth spa guests came to Oberstaufen in the first year, a base for tourism was recognized in the village, Sudeten Germans who had been expelled from Niederlindewiese were brought in and their own Schroth spa administration was set up. With the award of the title “Schroth health resort” on November 30, 1959, Oberstaufen was officially recognized as the only Schroth health resort in the Federal Republic of Germany.
