history

After the von Mükusch and Buchberg family had acquired the Nieder Rothwasser estate in 1616 and the knightly heir scholtisei Schwarzwasser the following year , they had a new settlement built in the Kubengrund in the 17th century. This was named after the Schropp and Schroppengrund settler family ; the name was soon carried over to the entire valley. In 1797 the councilor and captain Ernst von Mükusch and Buchberg sold the Nieder Rothwasser estate to Kaspar von Sternberg-Rudelsdorf .

In 1836 Schroppengrund consisted of 32 lined up houses in which 223 German-speaking people lived. The main sources of income were agriculture, spinning, day wages and some trades. There was a grinder, a board saw, a brandy distillery and a brewery in the village. The Graflich Sternberg shares of Alt Rothwasser , Neu Rothwasser and Schwarzwasser were added to the local community of Schroppengrund . The parish and school location was Alt Rothwasser. Until the middle of the 19th century, Schroppengrund remained subject to the Nieder Rothwasser estate.

After the abolition of patrimonial Schroppengrund formed a community in the judicial district of Weidenau from 1849 . From 1869 the village belonged to the Freiwaldau district, at the same time it was incorporated into Schwarzwasser. At the end of the 19th century, the Czech place name Šropengrunt was introduced. In 1900 Schroppengrund had 203 inhabitants and consisted of 39 houses. In the 1921 census, 209 people lived in the 37 houses of Schroppengrund , including 207 Germans. In 1930 Schroppengrund had 204 German-speaking residents. After the Munich Agreement , the village was assigned to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Freiwaldau district until 1945 . After the end of the Second World War, Šropengrunt came back to Czechoslovakia; most of the German-speaking residents were expelled in 1945/46 . Some of the houses were later demolished. In 1948 the name was changed to Rokliny. During the territorial reform of 1960, the Okres Jeseník was abolished and Rokliny was incorporated into the Okres Šumperk . In 1961 Rokliny lost the status of a district of Černá Voda . Since 1996 Rokliny has belonged to Okres Jeseník again. In the 2001 census, 14 people lived in the 10 houses in Rokliny. Today the place consists of 14 houses.
