Hermann Dahl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Reinhard Paul Dahl (* 24. January 1894 in Stettin ; † 16th June 1939 ) was a German champion in Diving .

Dahl had Scandinavian roots: his grandfather had moved from Norway to Kolberg . He came from a family of ten (father, mother, two daughters and six sons) who were all sports enthusiasts. His wife Minna geb. Stark (1893–1978) was a track and field athlete. Son Arnim was the only child.

Dahl was a co-founder of the water sports friends Pomerania (WASPO), from which the German champions Gerhard Nüske , Hans Gauke and Manfred Laskowski emerged . At the time of the birth of son Arnim (1922), Dahl himself was still active as a competitor. He later worked as a trainer. Training took place in the evening because Dahl, like all the other trainers, was volunteering.

Hermann Dahl was a carpenter by profession.

Participation in the Olympics is not proven. In any case, he was unable to take part in the Games in Antwerp in 1920 and in Paris in 1924 , as no German athletes had been invited due to Germany's role in the First World War . 1928 at the Games in Amsterdam , he was referee for water polo .

Hermann Dahl died unexpectedly shortly before the outbreak of World War II .
