Hermann Esswein
Edmund Hermann Heinrich August Eßwein (born May 13, 1877 in Mannheim , † 1934 in Munich ) was a German author and translator.
Eßwein, son of the lithographer Joseph Eßwein, went to high school in Mainz and after graduating from high school, studied law and philosophy in Munich before devoting himself entirely to literature from 1900. He published essays on art history and art education in art magazines or daily newspapers as well as poems, for example in Hans Benzmann's Modern German Poetry . At Piper Verlag he was the editor of the series Modern Illustrators, which appeared in 1904 and consisted of twelve monographs . He also wrote fantastic and grotesque stories.
He lived mainly in Munich.
