Hermann Edtbauer

Hermann Edtbauer (born May 29, 1911 in Grünburg ; † December 15, 2012 in St. Georgen near Obernberg am Inn ) was an Austrian elementary school teacher , choir director , radio presenter and dialect author .

Live and act

He grew up in Grünburg and from 1935 lived in St. Georgen near Obernberg am Inn , where he was head of the local elementary school for 40 years and organist and head of the church choir for 64 years and choirmaster of the first farmers' table in St. Georgen for 60 years.

Following the example of Tobi Reiser , he founded the tradition of the Innviertel Advent singing. For many years he was active as a functionary in the singer association and led the choir of the Fischer ski factory for twelve years. His fondness for folk culture was expressed in numerous radio and television programs that he moderated, as well as newspaper articles for the local press. He published three books in the Innviertel dialect. He was a member of the Innviertel Artists Guild and the Stelzhamer Association .

During the Second World War he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released at Christmas 1945.
