Hermann Engels (politician)

Hermann Engels (born December 3, 1909 in Lübeck , † January 20, 1973 ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

Engels was a worker and was initially unemployed after the National Socialists ' seizure of power in 1933. In 1936 he was employed by the Reichspost, which, after retraining, later worked as a high-frequency technician in the Reichspostzentralamt in Berlin .

After the Second World War , Engels returned to Lübeck and in 1946 became union secretary and in 1949 district manager of the ÖTV . He was also deputy chairman of the workers' welfare in Lübeck until 1950 . In 1950 the ÖTV district of Schleswig-Holstein moved its headquarters to Kiel , so that Engels had to move there too. Later he became a member of the main board of the ÖTV and board member of the state traffic watch Schleswig-Holstein as well as the district Nordmark of the DGB . He was also a member of several trade union committees at the Schleswig-Holstein State Labor Office . So he was u. a. Chairman of the Budget Committee there. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Kieler Seefischmarkt and the Kieler Arbeiterschaftshaus GmbH .

Political party

Engels was a member of the SPD since 1924.

MP

From 1946 to 1950 Engels belonged to the Lübeck citizenship. From 1958 to 1967 he was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein .
