Angelius Johann Daniel Aepinus
Angelius Johann Daniel Aepinus (born May 10, 1718 in Rostock , † probably February 28, 1784 in Rostock) was a German philosopher and university professor.
Life
Aepinus was born as a son of the Rostock university professor and (later) superintendent Franz Albert Aepinus (1673–1750) and his wife Agnes, b. Dörcks (1687–1736), daughter of a ducal Mecklenburg chamber councilor. Enrolled in Rostock as early as 1730, he studied theology and law at the universities of Rostock and Jena . In the summer semester of 1739 he received his master's degree in Rostock. In 1746 he was appointed to Rostock University by Duke Friedrich von Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
In 1760, when the University of Bützow was founded, he was transferred there as professor of logic and metaphysics, and from 1760–1763 he was the publisher of the Bützow learned news . In the winter semester of 1763/64 he was rector of the university. He then returned to Rostock and was appointed ducal court counselor, and in 1775 a secret chancellery.
Angelius himself married Anna Christiane Eschenbach (1717–1790), which resulted in three children who, however, died prematurely.

Individual evidence
- ↑ For Aepinus there are numerous different death dates in circulation in the literature (February 25, 1784, February 28, 1784, April 25, 1784); the information here (February 28) follows Niklot Klüßendorf In: Biographisches Lexikon für Mecklenburg (1999), pp. 14-17. Aepinus' death cannot be documented in the church registry. It is only guaranteed that he was buried on March 10, 1784 in Rostock (St. Jacobi).
