Hermann Frick (born July 26, 1897 in Zurich , Switzerland ; † May 27, 1987 there ) was a Swiss actor.

Live and act

Born in Zurich, he received his artistic training in the early 1920s and made his stage debut in Frankfurt am Main in 1923. In the years to come, Frick took part in provincial theaters in Switzerland (e.g. to Lucerne, where he played Lysander in Shakespeare's " A Midsummer Night's Dream ", Laertes in " Hamlet " and Ferdinand in Schiller's " Kabale und Liebe ") as in Germany (e.g. to Frankfurt / Oder, Weimar and Wiesbaden, where he worked at the Nassau State Theater there from 1932 to 1934). In 1934 Frick went to Berlin for the first time in order to fulfill an obligation at the Rose Theater in the next two years . At the same time, Hermann Frick played several small supporting roles in German entertainment films: sometimes he was an accountant (as in the Oscar Wilde film An Ideal Husband ), sometimes an adjutant (as in Black Roses ) or a lieutenant (as in the Fridericus film from 1936). Frick then returned home to Switzerland and continued his stage work in the state capital Bern at the local theater until 1940.

In the following decades, Frick appeared at Swiss venues in Basel, Lucerne , St. Gallen and Zurich. His role repertoire included the title role (and later also Count Truchß) in Kleist's " Prince Friedrich von Homburg ", Tellheim in Lessing's " Minna von Barnhelm ", Orsino in Shakespeare's " Was ihr wollt ", Gregers Werle in Ibsen's " Die Wildente " , Count Montrond in Kesser's " Talleyrand and Napoleon ", Diomedes in Kleist's " Penthesilea ", Calcagno in Schiller's " The Fiesco Conspiracy in Genoa ", Hauptmann von Schlettow in Zuckmayer's " The Captain of Koepenick ", Salisbury in Shakespeare's " Richard II. ", Which Graf Schlick in Grillparzer's" A brotherly dispute in Habsburg ". His film appearances at home, beginning in 1940 with "Is Dr. Ferrat guilty?" (in the original: Dilemma ), however, were quite rare. Especially in the 1960s and early 1970s, Hermann Frick received a number of small feature film roles before he retired from working in front of the camera in 1973. He remained active in the theater until the middle of the same decade. Frick also took part in countless radio plays as a speaker. The man from Zurich died in his hometown two months before his 90th birthday.
