Hermann Goebel (politician)

Hermann Goebel (born July 4, 1873 in Priebus ; † 1927 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center ).

Life

After attending the elementary school in Priebus and the high schools in Bunzlau and Sorau , Goebel studied law and political science at the universities in Leipzig , Berlin , Munich and Breslau . He passed the first state examination in law in May 1894 and then completed his legal clerkship. After passing the second state examination in law, he joined the Prussian judicial service as a court assessor. From March 1901 he was a magistrate in Myslowitz, Upper Silesia . On May 30, 1913, he was promoted to the District Court Council.

During the First World War Goebel worked as a judge in the occupied territories. From March 1915 to April 1, 1918, he was the supervisory judge of the Imperial German District Court in Bendzin, Poland, and from May to November 9, 1918, the first public prosecutor at the Imperial German District Court in Charleroi, Belgium .

Goebel was politically active and was chairman of the district committee of the Center Party in Katowice. He was also a member of the church council and board member of various Catholic associations. From June 16, 1908 to November 15, 1918 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives ; from 1919 to 1921 member of the Prussian state constituent assembly . In February 1921 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he belonged until his death. In parliament he represented constituency 9 (Upper Silesia).
