Hermann Hülser

Hermann Hülser (born July 8, 1888 in Viersen ; † December 19, 1973 there ) was a German politician and Lord Mayor of Viersen.

Life

Egidius Hermann Hülser started an apprenticeship at the post office after completing secondary school at the Viersener Gymnasium. Because of his knowledge of telegraphy , he did his military service with the intelligence service during the First World War . After the war he fought in a free corps in East Prussia. Again working as a telegraph inspector in Viersen, he married Johanna Peters in 1921 and moved to the Joh. Peters company in 1924, where he pushed ahead with the development and expansion of the wholesale business . During the Second World War he was in command of the Field Intelligence Command in Nancy . For reasons of age he resigned in 1942 with the rank of major , returned to Viersen and became head of the fire brigade. After the American invasion, he was appointed by the military government to head the military government police. He held this office until the end of 1945. He was a co-founder of the Viersen CDU and was elected mayor in 1946.

Activities and earnings

From 1947 Hülser was a member of the CDU in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament ; There he dealt as a fire service specialist with the development and concentration of the fire service in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time he was Vice President of the Mönchengladbach Chamber of Commerce . He built the Rhenish-Westphalian paint and coatings association with on, was a commercial judge at the District Court of Mönchengladbach, from 1954 several years as a diocesan national champion in the Catholic Brotherhood movement worked and was in 1956 the first chairman of the Association for Heimatpflege selected. Hülser was on the supervisory board of Kreisbau - and the Viersener Aktienbaugesellschaft and chaired the board of trustees of the general hospital. After five terms as a member of the state parliament and six times re-election as mayor, he withdrew from public life from 1966. Hülser was popular in Viersen because of his popularity and his achievements. He died in 1973 at the age of 85.
