Hermann Hersch
Hermann Hersch (* 1821 in Jüchen ; † July 27, 1870 in Berlin ) was a German poet and playwright .
Life
Hermann Hersch came from Jewish parents. He studied in Bonn . Then he went to Munich , where he headed by the poet and theater in 1854 director Franz von Dingelstedt his first play Alfonso Guzman Faithful brought to the performance. He later moved to Berlin, where he also died.

He wrote a number of pieces, among which the comedy Die Anna Liese , in which the marriage of Prince Leopold I of Anhalt-Dessau to the pharmacist's daughter Anna Luise Föhse is dealt with, attracted attention with its folk-patriotic touch and burlesque character drawing, without actually to have poetic worth and lasting meaning.
In 1859 he published a play about the Carthaginian heroine Sophonisbe .
